Beautimess
Packaging, materials and responsibility
We don't want to promise a “green” e-shop – we want to do concrete, verifiable things. This is an overview of how we pack, what to do with the packaging after delivery and how we approach returns and waste. If you'd like more detail, write to us.
How we pack
- Cardboard boxes of corrugated board with recycled content, no extra print – marked only with the logo and the carrier's label.
- Filling is paper (tissue paper, paper crinkle, paper tape). We use bubble wrap only for fragile glass and ceramics where paper isn't enough.
- Cosmetics – liquids are secured against opening; if a product has no tamper seal, we tape the cap.
- Jewellery ships in the gift box or pouch that is part of the product; we don't add more packaging.
- The invoice goes by e-mail only. We add to the parcel only what makes sense – samples according to your beauty profile and, where useful, an instruction card.
- We choose the box size to fit the contents (several formats) so we don't ship air.
How to sort the packaging from our parcel
| Packaging part | Material | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Box, filling, tissue paper | paper (PAP 20 / PAP 22) | paper recycling |
| Paper tape | paper | paper (may stay on the box) |
| Carrier label | paper with adhesive | paper or residual waste per local rules |
| Bubble wrap, bag (exceptionally) | LDPE 4 | plastics recycling |
| Cosmetics packaging | per the symbol on the pack (PET 1, HDPE 2, PP 5, glass 70–72, aluminium 41) | plastics / glass / metals; empty and rinsed |
| Cosmetics – leftover contents | – | don't pour down the drain; small residues in residual waste |
For products covered by the PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, (EU) 2025/40) we are gradually adding the harmonised packaging-composition labelling directly on the product page.
E-waste and batteries
As a seller of electrical appliances we ensure take-back: you can return an old appliance of the same type free of charge when buying a new one (one-for-one) – enclose it with a return shipment by arrangement, or hand it in at any collection point or electronics shop. Small appliances up to 25 cm are accepted by shops with a sales area over 400 m² even without a purchase. Batteries and accumulators belong in collection boxes in shops. The crossed-out bin symbol on a product means it doesn't belong in household waste. We fulfil our producer/distributor obligations for electrical equipment through a producer responsibility organisation.
What happens with returned goods
- Unused goods in original condition are checked, repacked and returned to sale.
- Goods with damaged outer packaging but an intact product may be offered at a discount with the packaging defect clearly stated.
- Opened cosmetics are never resold – for hygiene reasons we dispose of them per regulations, so please don't open cosmetics before returning them unless they're defective.
- Textiles and accessories with a minor defect that can't be sold, we try to donate rather than dispose of.
Choosing suppliers
We favour brands and manufacturers with a transparent origin and state the country of origin for every product where known. From every supplier we require product-safety documentation (GPSR) and, for cosmetics, proof of EU notification. We don't sell cosmetics tested on animals (banned in the EU).
Shipping
We consolidate shipments into one parcel even for several items and dispatch once a day in an agreed pickup so the carrier doesn't run empty. We recommend delivery to a pick-up point or locker – one carrier stop serves dozens of parcels, and you collect whenever it suits you.
What we don't promise
We have no carbon neutrality or “zero waste” and don't claim that shopping with us helps the planet. We do what we can influence: less packaging, paper instead of plastic, no unnecessary leaflets, honest product information and long-lasting pieces (Product care). If you have an idea how to do it better, write to info@beautimess.sk.
